By Chris Durham – Chair of Judges Anglia in Bloom

Anglia in Bloom actively invites and encourages all communities across the region to participate in the unique horticultural and environmental initiative and demonstrate that their efforts are making a difference to their local surroundings.

Communities involved in local enhancement projects, have seen many benefits to their local environment, to get the ball rolling, here are a few pointers to help you on your way:

  • Form an Neighbourhood or "In Bloom" Action Team (this could be just one or two people to start), invite and encourage more people to join your action team.

  • Talk to other local Bloom groups for advise (A list of contacts is being developed on this web site)

  • Talk to Anglia in Bloom judges and members via our CONTACT page

  • Talk to other residents, members of the local community, schools and business, inform them about the Anglia in Bloom Neighbourhood and "In Bloom" initiative and your intention to participate and enhance your local environment, invite them to join in and help.

  • Ask your neighbourhood/community what improvements they would like to see.

  • Devise an Action Plan to decide how your team are going to make a difference and improve your local environment.

  • Inform your local authority of your intentions; in most cases they will be willing to assist you.

  • Find out names and contacts of your local press and let them know about your action plan.

  • Enter your community into the Anglia in Bloom competitions.

  • Show the Anglia in Bloom judges your community and its achievements during July

  • Attend the Annual Awards Ceremony in September

  • Receive feedback and learn more at the annual seminar in November
