BURGEONING BURNHAM
ON CROUCH
Regional 2008 Anglia
in Bloom competition
launched with
National Express
East Anglia
National Express
East Anglia - the
principal operator
of rail services
throughout the east
of England – is once
again supporting
Anglia in Bloom
having signed up as
main sponsor for
2008, their fifth
year in succession.
Both Anglia in Bloom
and National Express
East Anglia share
similar ideals and
serve the same
communities, so it
is fitting that a
tree is to be
planted at Burnham
on Crouch Station on
Wednesday 19th
February to mark the
thriving partnership
between the train
operator and Anglia
in Bloom. As part of
the occasion some
lucky commuters will
also be handed
flowers to celebrate
this partnership.
During the Summer
Anglia in Bloom
judges will be out
and about visiting
hundreds of
villages, towns and
cities in the region
assessing their
entry in the 2008
competition.
Entrants will be
judged on their
efforts to promote
sustainability,
their involvement
with the community,
care for the
environment and
horticultural
excellence. The
winners in the
various categories
will be announced at
the grand awards
ceremony to be held
later this year.
A special award will
be given for the
best railway station
in East Anglia, with
staff and customers
nominating stations
for entry into the
prestigious
competition.
Andrew
Chivers
Managing Director

“Anglia in Bloom is
an exciting and
rewarding experience
for all involved.
Taking part builds
community
relationships and
makes a significant
difference to the
local environment.
National Express
East Anglia serves
many of the
communities which
enter the Anglia in
Bloom competition so
we are delighted to
support this
initiative and put
something back into
the community we
serve.”
Terry Bane, Chair of
Anglia in Bloom,
said: “The Anglia in
Bloom Team are
delighted that
‘National Express
East Anglia’
continues their
partnership and
generous support for
the eastern regions
unique environmental
community
initiative. With
this tree we are
planting today we
look forward to
sustaining our
growing and
flourishing future
together”
Terry added “It’s
not to late to plant
a tree, why not join
in and celebrate
spring with us by
planting a tree with
your community”
Terry continued “We
would like to see
every railway
station nominated
and entered into
this year’s
competition,
attractive stations
play such an
important part of
every day life and
to be greeted by
colourful floral
displays as you
arrive at your
destination gives a
feeling of well
being and a lasting
impression”
Terry added “Many of
the stations in the
“National Express
East Anglia” region
have been adopted by
the communities they
serve, if your
station has not been
adopted why not
approach your
station manager and
ask if your
community can help
to florally enhance
any bare and
neglected areas and
enter into this
years Anglia in
Bloom best railway
station category of
our competition”
